Strikes cost SA economy $60m a day as workers demand pay rise

Strikes are costing Africa's biggest economy $60 million a day. Motor industry workers at Toyota, Ford and BMW have failed to cut a deal with bosses. The trade union wants a 14% rise in pay but bosses are only offering 10%.

From next week, there will be more strikes as petrol stations and car dealerships prepare for walkouts.

South African gold producers are also preparing for bruising strikes.
