Can African artists make money?

Transcending Boundaries is the name of an exhibition that has just opened in London showing the work of 11 of Nigeria's leading contemporary artists.

It is not just the art works that are here, the artists have also come to talk about their work, with prices ranging from £3,000 ($5,000) to £24,000.

So if their work is commanding these kind of prices, is art becoming a more accepted career path than it used to be in Africa?
