South Sudan: Mother of five walks 60 miles for food

Aid agencies predict four million people in South Sudan are about to face critical food shortages because farming has been disrupted by ethnic violence.

Thousands have now died in the conflict that started as a political dispute between South Sudan President Salva Kiir and Riek Machar, his sacked deputy.

Fighting between different factions of South Sudan's ruling party has forced more than one million people out of their homes since December.

The British group, the Disasters Emergency Committee, or DEC, says that meagre reserves of food will run out in August.

David Bainbridge, the International Director of the charity Tearfund, told the BBC's David Eades it was a desperate situation.
