Ghana: Thousands protest against rising cost of living

Thousands of Ghanaians took to the streets on Thursday across the country, in protest against what they call the government's mismanagement of the economy.

Ghana's economy has been hit by inflation rates of almost 15% and a large government deficit.

The nationwide demonstration was called by trade unions - for the first since President John Mahama took office in January last year.

BBC Africa's Sammy Darko reports from Accra.
