Ivory Coast former first lady jailed for 20 years
The former first lady of Ivory Coast, Simone Gbagbo, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in violence that followed the presidential election in 2010.
The court unanimously sentenced her to 20 years, twice as long as the prosecutors had asked for.
Nearly 3,000 people died in fighting after her husband, Laurent Gbabgo, refused to accept defeat.
Mr Gbagbo is awaiting trial at the International Criminal Court.
