The fears of Uganda's gay community seeking refuge in Kenya

Hundreds of Uganda's lesbian and gay community have fled the country to escape homophobia and persecution, hoping for a better life in the US and Europe.

But they are now stuck in neighbouring Kenya where the situation is not much better.

Uganda made international headlines last year when it tried to introduce a draconian anti-homosexuality law.

Although it was struck down by the courts, the environment has proved too toxic for a growing number of Ugandans.

More than 500 have escaped to Kenya, to apply for asylum to be resettled abroad on the basis of their sexual orientation, but are facing attacks, kidnappings, and harassment, as the BBC's Emmanuel Igunza reports.
