Beaten Afghan girl remains in hospital after rescue

Doctors say a 15-year-old Afghan girl will have to remain in hospital in Kabul for a month after being rescued from her husband and his family who had locked her up, starved and beaten her.

Sahar Gul was married off to a 30-year-old man around seven months ago, when she was just 14 years old. Her parents contacted police after not being able to see her for several months.

She had been locked up in the basement of her in-laws' house and was rescued by police.
