British troop deaths in Afghanistan 'not in vain'

The commander of Afghan forces in the country's Helmand province has insisted that the 438 deaths among British personnel in Afghanistan since 2001 have not been in vain.

Brig Gen Sherin Shah was speaking as the UK prepares to withdraw almost half its forces from the country in 2013, leaving Afghan troops to take over.
