Singapore's smog turns into a diplomatic row

It started as an issue of public health, but the dangerous levels of air pollution in Singapore - the worst for 16 years - have now ballooned into a serious diplomatic row.

Singapore and Indonesia are holding an emergency meeting to discuss the haze of thick smoke drifting across the city state.

The authorities say the pollution is caused by illegal forest fires on the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

In the face of official complaints, an Indonesian minister has told Singapore to stop "behaving like a child".
