Chinese cities blanketed by thick smog

Air pollution in the Chinese capital, Beijing, has reached some of the worst levels recorded in years.

Weather conditions are making it difficult for the pollution to disperse.

The worst-affected areas are the east and centre of the country, with major roads closed to traffic.
