US VP Joe Biden says US China relationship is 'complex'

US Vice-President Joe Biden has told the American business community in Beijing that he is aiming to create "a new type of relationship with China that is closer to the demands of the 21st century."

In a meeting organised by the American Chamber of Commerce, he also touched on the issue of human rights and emphasised the need for regional stability, security and predictability in order to continue with progress and economic growth.

Mr Biden also admitted: "Our relationship with China is complex."

The vice president is in Beijing as part of a tour of Asia and will next visit South Korea.
