Thailand's 'red villages': The rural communities backing Shinawatra

Thailand remains gripped by political deadlock after more than a month of protests - despite the government's decision to call an election in February.

The Bangkok-based protest movement is still calling for sweeping reform of the political system before the election is held.

But outside of the capital, the government's millions of supporters - known as the red shirts - are determined to ensure it wins a sixth successive election.
