PNG asylum death great tragedy, Australian immigration minister says

One person has been killed and 77 injured during a second night of violence at an Australian immigration detention centre on Papua New Guinea's Manus Island.

It follows reports on Sunday that a number of asylum seekers had escaped from the centre on the island, but were soon recaptured.

Australian Immigration Minister Scott Morrison said the death was a "great tragedy" but there would be no change to the government's policy of processing asylum seekers at offshore camps.
