Archive: China's Deng appears after Tiananmen crackdown

China's head of state Deng Xiaoping has appeared in public at a ceremony honouring the People's Liberation Army.

It follows a brutal crackdown by soldiers around Tiananmen Square which left hundreds, possibly thousands, of civilians dead.
