Pentagon: Afghanistan insider threat 'pernicious'

A US major-general has been killed in an attack by a man in Afghan military uniform at a British-run military academy near Kabul, US officials say.

Pentagon press secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby said the "insider threat" in Afghanistan was "pernicious" and difficult to analyse but said the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) had "mitigated and minimised" it.
