Khmer Rouge trial verdict due in Phnom Penh

A verdict is due in the first trial of the last two surviving leaders of Cambodia's Khmer Rouge regime.

Khieu Samphan, the former head of state, and Nuon Chea, leader Pol Pot's deputy, have been on trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The second trial they face, includes a charge of genocide.

The Khmer Rouge ruled Cambodia from 1975 to 1979 and up to two million people are thought to have died under the Maoist regime.
