Australia Prime Minister Tony Abbott governs from indigenous area

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott is spending a week governing the country from a remote indigenous community in the Northern Territory.

He arrived in Arnhem Land on Sunday, honouring an election promise to spend a week every year in an indigenous area, and was given a traditional welcome.

The prime minister is staying in a tent at a site sacred to the local community near Nhulunbuy on the north-east tip of the Northern Territory,
