Arundhati Roy returns national award over rising intolerance

The Indian author Arundhati Roy has returned a national award "in solidarity" with other public figures who have done the same.

They are angry about rising intolerance in India, following a series of killings.

The Booker-prize winning author said the murders and lynchings were being justified with an overarching ideology which outlines a "frightening vision".
