Taiwan's president defends China trade deal

Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou has defended a controversial trade agreement with China that would allow more Chinese investment on the island.

Thousands have rallied in support of students who earlier in the week had stormed and occupied parliament over the deal.

They fear the agreement will make the island vulnerable to pressure from China.
