Beijing police held a mass anti-riot drill

Up to 3,000 policemen took part in a 40-minute drill in the Chinese capital city, Beijing. It focused on knife attacks, hijacks and illegal mass gatherings.

The drill was held only a few days before the anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protest, which is marked on 4th June. Beijing authorities have introduced a number of security measures ahead of that date.
