‘A really difficult time’: Treating Covid in rural India

A doctor working in a rural area of India’s Maharashtra state has spoken about the many challenges of treating people during the coronavirus pandemic.

Many people are living below the poverty line and there are difficulties around accessing basic healthcare and a mistrust of modern medicine, Dr Ashita Rebecca Singh told BBC World News.

India reported 379,257 new coronavirus infections on Thursday, the highest single-day total in the world.
