Protests in Kyrgyzstan ahead of presidential elections

Around 1000 protests have taken place this year in Kyrgyzstan, according to government figures. That is an average of three per day.

Residents of Central Asia's poorest country take to the streets to demonstrate for a wide range of issues.

After the presidential elections this Sunday, their demands will be among the challenges facing the new president.
