France continues Roma expulsion

A further 300 Roma settlers have been deported from France in President Sarkozy's continued crackdown on the community.

Hundreds of Roma have been expelled from France, which says it is acting in accordance with EU law by repatriating those who have been in the country longer than three months without work.

But Mr Sarkozy is facing increasing opposition over the operation, from human rights groups, opposition politicians and even those within his own party.

Gavin Hewitt reports from Paris.
