Judge: Accused claims attacks done 'to save Norway'

The man accused of carrying out attacks in Norway in which 76 people were killed has appeared at a court in Oslo for the first time.

The judge held a closed-door hearing to deny the suspect, Anders Behring Breivik, a public platform for his views.

Afterwards, Judge Kim Heger said, through a translator, that ''the accused believes that he needed to carry out these attacks in order to save Norway and western Europe from among other things, cultural Marxism and a Muslim takeover".'
