Barroso: 'We are fully committed to Greece'

The Greek Prime Minister, George Papandreou, if facing a vote of confidence in parliament as he tries to survive the political turmoil of the past few days.

Some of his MPs have threatened to vote against him because of plans to hold a referendum on the eurozone rescue package but it now looks as if the referendum will not take place.

The President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso said national unity was essential for Greece, so the country could get through its current difficulties.
