As EU leaders lined up for a group photoshoot following talks in Brussels, doubts remained about the future of the single currency, and the UK's role in Europe.

After British Prime Minister David Cameron's decision to veto an EU-wide treaty change, Hugo Brady of the Centre for European Reform said the UK was left in a precarious position.

He told the BBC's Matthew Amroliwala: "If you're not at the table, you're on the menu."

And he further speculated that EU leaders had not yet gone far enough with their agreement to calm the markets.
