Horsemeat scandal: Three men arrested on suspicion of fraud

Three men were arrested on Thursday evening on suspicion of fraud, as part of the investigation into horsemeat labelled as beef.

Police said a man had been arrested at a slaughterhouse in West Yorkshire and two more at a site in Wales, following searches by the Food Standards Agency on Tuesday.

Both firms involved have denied any wrongdoing.

In recent weeks meat products for sale in the UK and Europe labelled as beef were found to contain horsemeat, and many products have been taken off the shelves.

The results of further tests on beef products will be made public on Friday.
