Germany third gender move 'does not go far enough'

A lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and intersex rights group has said that changes allowing a third gender at birth in Germany do not go far enough.

Germany has become the first country in Europe to allow babies with the characteristics of both sexes to be registered as neither male nor female - by leaving the gender blank on birth certificates.

But Silvan Agius, who is Policy Director at ILGA Europe which is the European region of International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, says this does not go far enough.
