Costa Concordia: Media scrum as captain visits shipwreck

The captain of the Costa Concordia cruise ship, Francesco Schettino, has returned to the vessel he is accused of abandoning in January 2012.

He was surrounded by reporters as he arrived at the site.

The ship capsized after hitting a reef near the island of Giglio with the loss of 32 lives.

The visit is part of a court-ordered inspection of the ship and Mr Schettino is being accompanied by experts who will gather evidence for the trial.

Alan Johnston reports.
