Hague: Ukraine referendums illegal by any standards
British Foreign Secretary William Hague has said the 'self-rule' referendums in eastern Ukraine have "zero credibility" in the eyes of the world.
Pro-Russian separatists have claimed victory, saying 89% of people voted in favour of "self-rule" in Donetsk and 96% in Luhansk.
Speaking as he went into a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, Mr Hague said the EU would discuss imposing further sanctions, "depending on Russia's attitude towards the elections on May 25".
