Ukraine: Heavy street battles reported in Luhansk

The government in Ukraine says heavy street battles with pro-Russian separatist forces have been taking place in the centre of Luhansk, a rebel stronghold in the east of the country.

Government forces have been slowly closing in on Donetsk, where on Tuesday local residents were said to be fleeing the city centre following the shelling of rebel headquarters.
