Attacks on journalists in Russia is becoming a "trend that needs to stop" according to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Dunja Mijatovic, representative on freedom of the media from the OSCE described the attack on Steve Rosenberg as "one in a series of attacks".

Mr Rosenberg, the BBC's Moscow correspondent, and the rest of a BBC team were attacked and beaten in Astrakhan in southern Russia.
