How to extract venom from a snake - 15 secs

Researchers at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine are collecting venom from deadly snakes for medical research.

They are trying to develop anti-venom treatment against the bite of every dangerous snake in sub-Saharan Africa.

Snake bites kill at 30,000 people in the region each year.

The team has 400 venomous snakes in its laboratory.

Lead scientist Dr Robert Harrison demonstrates how they extract venom from snakes.
