Putin says Russian economy must grow despite EU sanctions

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Russia should use the situation of EU sanctions to help develop its own economy.

He admitted the sanctions had "negative consequences" but insisted: "The growth of internal agricultural production is inevitable."

He said that he thought the country's "responsive actions" in economic development would "probably not" have happened had the sanctions not been applied.
