Migrants: EU announces measures to tackle crisis

European Union ministers have met in Luxembourg to discuss the ongoing migrant crisis in the Mediterranean.

Several hundred people are feared to have drowned over the weekend, after their boats capsized.

The EU's foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, said the crisis was now a "European issue" not one for just a few countries to handle.

She said the EU now needed to "show a new sense of urgency and solidarity in fighting human trafficking".
