Aerial shots of French farmers' blockade in Lyon

French farmers have blocked four major highways around the city of Lyon - a gateway to the Alps and the south of France - in protest over meat and dairy prices.

Traffic was backed up about 25 km (15 miles) as farmers' leaders say many in the industry are facing bankruptcy.

President Francois Hollande's government presented a €600m plan to respond to the farmers, and called on supermarkets, food processing companies and abattoirs to help increase meat and dairy prices for farmers.
