Bear killed after escape from Russia shopping mall

A bear has been shot dead by police after it burst out of a shopping mall, where it had been trapped, in far-eastern Russia.

A camouflaged policeman fired at the bear as it ran near a playground in the city of Khabarovsk, close to the Chinese border.

The Investigative Committee, Russia's main state investigative agency, has launched a probe into the legitimacy of the police action.
