Battle for Sinjar: Inside town after recapture from IS

The town of Sinjar in north-west Iraq has been recaptured from the militants of so-called Islamic State by Iraqi Kurdish forces, helped by intensive air strikes from the American-led coalition.

The town, which fell to IS in August last year, is strategically positioned near the border with Syria.

Most of its inhabitants were from the minority Yazidi community, which suffered heavily under the IS militants.
