The story of a young Belgian who joined IS in Syria

Abdelmalek, was 19-year-old Belgian jihadist of Berber origin, from the city of Kortrijk, in the Flemish province of West Flanders in Belgium.

One day he told his mother: "Don't expect me for dinner."

The next day he sent her a photo from Turkey of him with his best friend, saying he was heading to Syria to join the so-called Islamic State.

Now his parents have been told that the young man killed himself carrying out a suicide attack for IS in Iraq.

This is the story of the parents' anguish as told to BBC Arabic's Murad Batal Shishani.
