Mexican author Carlos Fuentes' last BBC interview

The Mexican author Carlos Fuentes has died, aged 83.

In the last BBC interview he gave before his death Mr Fuentes was sharply critical of his government's war on drugs.

In December 2011 he told the BBC World Service that a different approach had to be taken - and advocated the legalisation and depenalisation of drugs.

He also criticised the US government for doing "absolutely nothing to curb the drugs trade".
