Just a few years ago, Brazil had elected its first female president, its economy was growing, and the country had been announced as the host of the 2016 Olympics.

But now the country is mired in political and financial scandal, enduring the worst recession in its history and President Dilma Rousseff faces possible impeachment.

As the country's Senate prepares to vote on President Rousseff's fate on Wednesday, why has Brazil gone from life in the sun to living under a cloud in just a few years? BBC Brasil's Camilla Costa explains.
