Ahmadinejad: 'Enemies tarnish Iranian brilliance'

Iran's President has said the opposition protests seen in his country's cities on Monday are "going nowhere" and has vowed to punish the organisers.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told state television that "enemies" were trying to "tarnish the Iranian nation's brilliance".

Earlier, conservative members of Iran's parliament called for the two opposition leaders they accused of fomenting the unrest to be tried and sentenced to death.
