Syria: Dozens of protesters arrested by security forces
Reports from Syria say security forces have arrested dozens of anti-government activists following the protests of the past few days, in which more than 100 people have been killed.
There are also reports that at least one person has been shot dead by security forces in the northern coastal town of Jableh.
The government has blamed the violence on armed criminal gangs.
International journalists are being denied access into Syria, so our correspondent Owen Bennett-Jones sent this report from neighbouring Lebanon.
