Former Bahrain opposition MP says Grand Prix should go ahead

Security has been tightened in Bahrain in preparation for protests, as Formula 1 cars take to the track for practice sessions ahead of Sunday's Grand Prix.

Security forces fired tear gas and stun grenades to disperse anti-government demonstrations overnight as activists promise "three days of rage" during the event.

Nevertheless, a former member of parliament for the opposition Al-Wefaq party, Jasim Husain, has called for the race to go ahead in order to raise awareness of human rights issues within the country.
