Despite the massacre, the international community has not been able to agree on the next steps that should be taken.
The ceasefire and peace plan, overseen by UN special envoy Kofi Annan, continues to be broken, despite both government forces and the opposition agreeing to it.
Annan has now travelled to Damascus for talks with the Syrian leader Bashar al Assad.
