Europe divided over Syrian rebel weapons plan

As Syrians mark the second anniversary of the start of the nation's unrest, the EU has been discussing lifting its arms embargo to allow supplying rebels.

France and the UK want the EU to lift the embargo, but Germany, Austria and Sweden are among the EU states believed to be reluctant.

An estimated 70,000 people have been killed and one million have fled Syria.

The status of the rebels has become one of the thorniest issues for foreign governments.
