Baghdad hit by series of car bombs

At least 48 people have been killed and more than 150 injured in a co-ordinated wave of attacks in and around the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

Police say most of the explosions, which happened in mainly Shia areas, were caused by car bombs, but at least one was a carried out by a suicide bomber.

It is thought the attacks were timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the western campaign to overthrow Saddam Hussein.
