Brahimi: Syria 'needs political solution'
The UN-Arab League envoy on Syria has said that a peace conference he hoped to hold this month has been delayed, but that he is still "striving" for a summit by the end of the year.
Lakhdar Brahimi said, after a day of meetings with senior diplomats, that he was not able to announce a date for talks in Geneva.
He also described the situation in Syria as "extremely bad" and suggested that the solution to the country's humanitarian crisis must be political, not military.
