Syria crisis: 'These families once had pretty good lives'

As the UN launches its biggest ever aid appeal, distribution centres in Syria are providing thousands of people with basic supplies.

The World Food Programme's Matthew Hollingworth told the BBC the people seeking help "perhaps a year or two years ago would have been living a pretty good life."

He said the impact of being "made homeless once or twice or three times" has reduced them to needing handouts to cover their basic needs.
