Middle East peace: Symbols of scepticism on West Bank

The latest round of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians was due to reach its deadline on Tuesday.

Efforts to create a Palestinian state on the West Bank of the River Jordan and Gaza on the Mediterranean coast have been frustrated by the continuing conflict with Israel and disputes over the status of displaced Palestinians.

Israel's prime minister Netanyahu suspended the talks last week blaming the Palestinians for a lack of progress. The Palestinians blame him, and US President Barack Obama blames both sides.

Talks have been happening, on and off, for more than 20 years.

Jeremy Bowen reports on the scepticism uniting Israelis and Palestinians.
